Function
![]() |
Single Cylinder: Single cylinder deadbolts feature a key-operated lock on the outside and a thumb turn on the inside, allowing for quick and convenient locking or unlocking from within. These are the most commonly used deadbolts for residential and commercial entry doors. |

Double Cylinder: Double cylinder deadbolts require a key to operate the lock from both the inside and outside. Because you cannot unlock the door from the inside without a key, it's important to check your local fire safety codes before installation, as this type may not be allowed in certain areas. |

One-Sided: One-sided deadbolts are operated from only one side either with a thumb turn or key and have no access point on the other side of the door. These are typically used for rooms requiring added privacy or security, such as storage areas, panic rooms, patios or darkrooms. |
